    Mindy Lou's Book Review

Bar Bites is a cross of the Man of the Month cookbook, 3 couple update stories and 1 new couple's story. There is quite a few recipes provided that I really want to try out. I'll come back to this review later to post what I think of the recipes I try. I like getting little epilogues on couples. They are almost better than their stories because we get to see the couples already past the angst of trying to get together and we get to see them happy and in love. They are almost better than their stories because we get to see the couples already past the angst of trying to get together and we get to see them happy and in love. The author gave us a glimpse into these 4 couples: -Reece and Jenna and the birth of their daughter. -Nolan and Shelby dealing with having their lives on camera 24/7 with the restoration of the mansion and possibly news on the next step of their relationship. -Spencer and Brooke. Brooke has fears that Spencer is hiding something and she gets the surprise of her life. -And our new couple, Eric and Tiffany. We get a full but very short story of their beginning, how they deal with a complication that could come between them and since this author doesn't leave us hanging, their HEA

Rounded up to 3 stars overall. This is tough to rate as there is a little bit of everything in this book. There is the cookbook which has some interesting recipes. Alas I have to say that recipe wise there are some good ones like the Lasagna Rolls. Other recipes are Skillet Buffalo Dip with Homemade Tortillas as well as drinks to go with the food and starters. This didn’t work for me because well I really do not like to cook and Texas food ain’t my kind of jam. The recipes get 3 stars from me. Slic Rounded up to 3 stars overall. We get a sneak peek Jenna & Reece which gets 3 stars from me. Nolan & Shelby get 2 stars. Spencer & Brooke get 3 stars. I found it all to be mundane. I enjoyed Jenna & Reece’s book, as well as Nolan & Shelby’s and Spencer & Brooke’s but after that I don’t really care what happens to them. The bonus story is of Tiffany and Eric. They both work at The Fix and have both had a crush on each other but Tiffany dated Eric’s brother for a while before he accepted a job out of Texas. There was never any chemistry between Ben & Tiffany. Eric and Tiffany finally get together after months of dancing around one another. It’s all very insta everything then to add oil to the fire, Ben comes back and Eric takes something the wrong way and then Tiffany does and they get their HFN. 3 stars for Tiffany & Eric. As always Ms. Jenner has written an upbeat read with chemistry, banter, sassy and sexy times with some angst but this one just isn’t for me. It was a combination of all three. Guilty Pleasures Book Reviews

Well, this is a first for me … reviewing a recipe book with a few novella's thrown in for good measure. J. Kenner and Suzanne M. Johnson make some really interesting and flavorful drinks and dishes throughout this book (yes, had to try at least one of them). And, then, they gave us three new short stories that finished off some previous ones and one new story set in The Fix on Sixth but, unfortunately, he wasn't a Man of the Month. And, then, they gave us three new short stories that finished off some previous ones and one new story set in The Fix on Sixth but, unfortunately, he wasn't a Man of the Month. Reece & Jenna … the perfect ending to our first Man of the Month. It was sweet and endearing. It was fun and sexy. But, I'm not giving anything away here. I will say that I ended that one with a huge smile on my face and a big “awwwww”. Loved visiting with them again. Nolan &Shelby … the most unlikely couple in the series. But, what exactly does our fun-loving, brash radio personality have in store for us? Why is Shelby so unsure of her relationship? Guess you'll have to pour yourself a drink, sit out by the pool or on a beach and find out. But, this one brought a little bit of a tear to my eyes. Just a Kiss: Eric & Tiffany. Seven Chapters … that's quite a feat to have two people fall in love. But, never fear. Ms. Kenner did a good job of getting them there and keeping them there. But, that's easy to do when the two people have been hoping that the other noticed them. When Eric was given the chance, he took it … grabbed onto it and rode it for all it's worth. But, there is a little hitch in this story and it just may be a deal breaker for them. But, have no fear, what's a little misunderstanding when Eric & Tiffany have wanted nothing more than to be together? So, she did it again … gave us three new stories, totally different from each other, thoroughly fun, entertaining and sexy as sin. Then, she brings in Suzanne M. Johnson and gets us really feeling good and fattening us up. Egh, what's a pound or two when it comes from The Fix on Sixth. I'm truly loving this series and am going to miss it when we get to December. I was surprised with the release of Bar Bites but thrilled that she gave me my Fix of the men in Austin, TX.

Upon finishing J. Kenner’s Man of the Month series, I found myself unwilling to say goodbye to the series. It has been my addiction for months, diving into each book as they’re released. The what happened next stories were little snippets of everyday life, letting us know what came next. The new story was my favourite, giving us a sweet quick read to show The Fix still has the power to create romance even though the Man of the Month contest is over. I may not have enjoyed this quite as much as I enjoyed the main series, but it was a worthwhile extra for fans. If you’ve enjoyed the main series, then I’d certainly recommend giving Bar Bites a read.

I have to be honest here. I didn't try any of the recipes, but few seemed interesting so I bookmarked them. Also, I didn't bother reading Reece and Jenna's short story because as some of you might know, I hate these two. Jenna deserved better. Now, that I have gotten these two things off my chest I can begin my review. I liked this collaboration between the two authors. I agree that the recipes and the bar worked well and it's a good combination. We have two short stories between the recipes and I have to be honest here. I agree that the recipes and the bar worked well and it's a good combination. We have two short stories between the recipes and I was happy with one of them. I have to admit that I was a little worried when it came to Nolla's actions and it pains me to say it. He was the perfect man. Maybe Shelby's worries got into my head. Their very short story was good and I loved it. Spencer and Brooke also have a story and I liked it a lot. My heart stopped a little a something Spencer said, but he made things up a few seconds later. We also have a bigger, but still short story about two secondary characters who work at the bar. Tiffany and Eric had chemistry and I enjoyed their story. The only thing I didn't like about this story is that we were never told if the heroine had slept with Ben aka the hero's brother. I am not into this kind of story. That uncertainty is the reason why I am giving 4 stars to the story. The recipes and Nolan and Spencer's stories get 5 stars and Reece's 0 which is why my final rating for this book is 4 stars.

Bar Bites J. Kenner This is a great book that goes with the Man Of The Month series. It starts off with some great sounding recipes that I must try. After a few pages of the recipes we catch up with the group of characters that we have met throughout the series. What can be better with good reading, catching up to characters of the series....the recipes. I am so happy they were added!

This book is the perfect combination! It's filled with short stories that give you all the feels and some UNBELIEVABLE recipes! I'm not sure if this has been done before, but MAN, OH MAN, we should do this more often! I am a pretty avid cook. Sadly, I usually get stuck in a rut of fixing the same old recipes I've been preparing for the last hundred years...okay, maybe not a hundred, but it's been a while. I love cookbooks, but I rarely take the time to look through them, or when I do, find them uninspiring or a little too high brow for my taste. The recipes included in this book were phenomenal. Now, I'm not gonna lie and tell you I loved all of them, because nobody loves ALL the recipes in any cookbook. But, I did find some great bases to adapt and create some of my own NEW meals! (Personally I'm going to blog about the Veggiedillas and the White Chocolate Cranberry cookies this week!) -- There were also some drink recipes in there that looked DELICIOUS for my upcoming summer vacation ;) The stories added an element that made this title unique, for me. Not only did I peruse the recipes, but suddenly in the midst of my hunger pains, I was hit with a story! These stories were short, sweet, hot, and made my heart feel just enough that I was invested. I loved having this burst of "life" pop in amongst the recipes (it also aided me in not creating a mile long grocery list and eating my weight in new snacks!). Fabulous idea, and I wholeheartedly approve having more cookbook/short story books in the future!

I have to admit…I’m not much of a foodie or a drinker for that matter, but I love the atmosphere that’s created in a bar, and The Fix on Sixth definitely fits the bill when it comes to offering its customers a place to come together for some laughs, some adult beverages, some amazing appetizers, and one heck of a good time. And because the bar and its crew offer a menagerie of eats, drinks, and merriment, its clientele keeps coming back for more, and it’s this eclectic bunch that has worked together to ensure The Fix remains a staple in their lives. Bar Bites: A Man of the Month Cookbook showcases a little bit of everything when it comes to what the bar offers, and it also provides updates into the lives of some of the couples who have already graced the pages of this series, offering insights into how they’re working towards their happily ever afters. Readers also get to witness a new couple emerge and finally give into what they’ve been feeling for one another for quite some time. Bar Bits is an interesting addition to the series because it takes a deeper look into the setting of most of its stories, and while The Fix isn’t always the central focal point, everything that the characters are doing in terms of the calendar is to save the bar, so it’s a cool idea to get a better idea as to why this bar is so beloved as well as catch up with some of the couples as readers head into the final stretch of the series. 4 Poison Apples (The Fairest of All Book Reviews)

Bar Bites by J. Kenner is a multifaceted book. The cookbook portion of it gives recipes and anecdotes for the fun dishes and drinks that we have heard about throughout the Man of the Month series. Added to that are added epilogues from some favorite characters. I enjoyed the short story that we are given about Eric and Tiffany. They have been working together at The Fix on Sixth and pining after each other for a while. Hanging over them is TIffany's previous relationship with Eric's brother, but Bar Bites by J. I loved the idea of this book. It combines three extended epilogues to some of the Man of the Month stories, a new novella and also offers a collection of cute little recipes for cocktails and what would be bite-sized serving of various foods. Bar Bites J. Kenner ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Oohh this was a little surprise for me, I'm so used to the Man Of The Month that I didn't realise very this was a recipe book. But with that came, a little extra, I was very happy to see. That being, there was more of all of your favourites, and their continued happy ever afters. I'm not sure what I loved more, the recipes I'm going to steal or those bonus stories. More warm and fuzzies in a perfect series for me.

While I loved the bonus sense we got with Reece/ Janna, Spencer/ Brooke and Shelby/ Nolan and of course the new one At the end with Tiffany and Eric but I really think this should of come out after he rest. Because if gave us a preview of who Griffin and Brent will end up with and it kinda took the joy of finding that out in there books. That was my one big downfall to this.

A mix of everything from the whole series brought right to your fingertips. Recipes for treats and drinks, many of which we heard about throughout the stories, are divided up into months- much like our men. A few stories come into play as well, but spoiler alert! so do not read this unless you've started the man of the month series. Delicious in every way, a beautiful wrap up.

While not as fulfilling as the main installments to the series, this was a sweet way to end things since there were a few loose ends to be tied up.  That and well, it's always nice to know how to make the food and drinks that i've read about for months now . In this interesting version of a book, we get 4 novellas, one about Reece/Jenna, one about Spencer/Brooke, one about Nolan/Shelby and one about Eric/Tiffany.  Each gives us a glimpse into their story that we didn't have already (a continuation of sorts) except for Eric/Tiffany where we got an abbreviated version of their entire story.  There's something interesting though to call out here.  Our author tends to lean on the side of steam and heat in her other series, but in this case, there was more 'sweet romance' and storytelling than raunch.  nice change up sure, but in this book, she turns on the heat for sure and we get a bit more of what she's known for.  It's a nice change to be frank since we get the sweetness of the romances, yet the passion of Ms Kenner. I love that we got to see a bit further into the future for Reece and Jenna - the birth of their daughter which was a main point throughout the installments.  It's a bit of a stressful path that they go on, but it's sweet none the less.   we get to see the happy couple become a happy family then there's nolan / shelby.  the couple that seemed to be totally different from one another but so well suited - but does that mean that they get their happily ever after?  and at what cost? Onto Brooke and Spencer, the couple that had it all, lost it all and found it again.  Now however is the spotlight coming in between them?  putting on too much pressure and taking all that was great and amazing between them and turning it against each other?  i feel like we all want their happy ending - for their first show to be the success that we saw it become, and for them to get the mansion renovated and perfect since it was the stage for where their initial relationship really flourished.  the cameras though, and the constant attention makes things hard that there's a breaking point, and we can only hope that love keeps it from falling apart too far.  And lastly, the romance that we never got in a full size story - Eric and Tiffany.  the bartender and the friend.  It's sweet to see the crush become something more, even if there's the taboo piece that Tiffany used to date Eric's brother.  It's when said brother comes back into town that we see things get dicey.  So....all in all, an even nicer way to close out the series - even though i know that Walk the Line was a really good piece of closure.  Now i really have to find something else to read.  Sad!  but enjoy!!!

I had a lot of fun with this review because it isn't really as much of a review as it is DINNER! Haha I was really lucky to be accepted to be on this tour because it involves two of my favorite things, books and cooking. I have enjoyed the chance to make some of Suzanne M Johnson's recipes in the past through her work with Lexi Blake on the Masters and Mercenaries Bits and Bites so when Inkslinger PR asked for bloggers to help with this blog tour I jumped at the chance. The Man of the Month books are such fun, swoon worthy reads and food playing such a central role in the stories I couldn't want to get the chance to try out some of these food that make me drool as I read about them. Before I show you what I made I also want to mention how much I love the little 'Slice's of Life' we get in the actually cookbook. These quick looks into the lives of some of our favorite characters are always a fun way to peek in to the worlds we have already 'left' but have been missing since we closed the last page in each characters book. Also, let's just talk about how each month's recipes have not only some fun foods that are totally yummy but drinks to go along with them and y'all know I am totally down for that, ha! I think I may need to have a re-read party for each Man of the Month and make the recipes that go along with it, any one else in? You'll want to check out the blog for the full post, pictures plus two yummy recipes for you to try! http://www.readsallthebooks.com/2018/...

Received an ARC for an honest review. Now this is the kind of cookbook I can get behind. It's got some great, easy to accomplish recipes that we've been hearing about throughout the Man of the Month series. But even better is that it's interspersed with a few scenes of some of our favorite couples! We get to catch up with some of our favorite couples (I'm looking at you Jenna and Reece!), but we also get the added benefit of a brand new couple! While I loved seeing what Nolan and Spencer and their ladies were up to, too, I loved that Kenner gives us Eric and Tiffany's story! Eric and Tiffany have been crushing on each other from afar with him not sure about acting on the attraction since she used to date his brother. Thanks to some meddling friends and a pitcher of margaritas, they're able to finally see if a relationship is worth pursuing. And because it's a Kenner book, the answer is, of course, yes...but there's going to be a catch. I am totally smitten with The Fix and I'm really sad that this place and these characters don't actually exist...but at least now I can make a batch of Pinot Punch.

Your mouth will water with the little Bites of flavor that Suzanne Johnson concocts with J. Kenner in Bar Bites: Man of the Month Cookbook. Fanatically excited that we get to dive back in to certain relationships from the Fix on Sixth and I have to say it was needed. We all have fallen in love with these couples that Kenner has embedded within our hearts, but to entangle ourselves back into certain lives made me very giddy! In addition, a short story is included surrounding Eric and Tiffany's love. I really enjoy when Suzanne Johnson teams up with authors and provides us with some of her yummy treats. I have made some of her treats before and they are exceedingly delicious! Tasty treats w/ some tasty men equals a wonderful addition to the MOTM series! **ARC provided by the author in exchange for an honest review**

Lovely recipes and 4 novelettes Bar Bites is a wonderful addition to the Man Of the Month series. It is unique, featuring recipes for wonderful drink concoctions and good ‘ole bar food. This is a recipe book and short novellas combined! The recipes are from the various foods and drinks that were mentioned in the Man of the Series books for The Fix on Sixth. I'm not into cooking much but I'm going to try some of these recipes since it sounds yummy! There are 4 short stories included. Three of them are follow ups on 3 of the couples so far and one of them is about a new couple. I can't wait for more from the series and hopefully get more updates on the couples that have come together so far as the series goes along!

Bar Bites is a cookbook with “Slices of Life.” The slices are very short stories (epilogues) with Reece and Jenna; Nolan and Shelby; Spencer and Brooke; and a short story about a couple I’m sure you’ve been routing for. All these stories occur after the Man of the Month calendar is completed and into a new year. Each story was fun and sexy. While you know everyone is getting their HEA, I felt like there were a couple spoilers. They are all from the books including the Loaded Corona and Jalapeño Margarita. All the recipes are divided up per month and some are very seasonal. There are some recipes I’m looking forward to trying. I made the Pinot Punch, perfect for a warm day. The Cranberry Turkey Melt was awesome, but I did use white cheddar instead of Muenster.

So many recipes to all those goodies referenced in the Man of the Months novellas are compiled in this book and I look forward to trying so many of them, especially Pinot Punch which I have tagged for a party this summer. Any who...we are also treated to three epilogues which did the heart good! Reece and Jenna have the baby, Brooke and Spencer decide to elope, and Nolan and Shelby get engaged. Oh my, it is always good to go back and see how the couples are doing. Eric has managed to not get wrangled into the Man of the Month contest even though he is one of the best bartenders The Fix has and Tiffany has finally reached her breaking point or has he. Somehow they end up on a "date" but never actually go on the date. Just what they needed to finally break through. **Received this ARC for review**

As a reader of the Man of the Month series, when I heard there was a cookbook connected to the books I thought I’d check it out. This is mostly a cookbook, but there are short stories with characters from the Man of the Month series throughout the book as well. He recipes are bar bites, like the title says. I think you probably would want to read at least a book or two of the actual series before reading the short stories, but the recipes look good enough to try having read the series or not! I’d give the book 4 stars, and I think the cookbook is a creative way to give a bonus to fans of the series. I was asked by the author for an honest review.

Cooking is one of my favorite past times. Coming close only to reading. So combining great recipes with short stories by one of my favorite authors, is a winning combination in my book.
