"Chosen Ones" AKA the new "Tales of the Slayer." Though while there was the feeling of been there, done that, there were a few things I loved, one being the crazy religious vampires who viewed the indigenous people as made for food, which I shuddered at, but the way the world is right now, makes creepy sense, and the art in the final story was some of the best art I've ever seen in a comic. Gorgeous!

For the most I really liked the stories (although not sure why they even bothered with the last very short one). The first is about the establishment of the hell mouth in Sunnydale, and is consistent with the events at the end of the buffy TV series with opening the hell mouth. It also introduces you to the establishment of vampires in Norther America. I also really liked the artwork. Had it been for this story alone I probably would have given it five stars. The artwork in the following stories I didn't like quite as much, and the stories declined with it. (2nd one was fine, as I said above, they could have just not included the last one and it really wouldn't have lost anything) All in all I am pretty interested to see where these go, and will be picking up the next issue.

One of Buffy fans' (and definitely one of mine) main complaints about the show is that it largely does not delve into the fascinating lore that could exist. I'm particularly interested in the history of the Slayers, which we only get in bits and pieces on the show. Comics, however, have delved further into the tales of the Slayers, and so I was excited to see a new version of that with the new Buffy series. Unfortunately, even this issue didn't go that deep into slayer lore. Unfortunately, even this issue didn't go that deep into slayer lore. I liked being introduced into three distinct slayers, but the stories were so short I didn't get to have a deep sense of who they are. Instead of doing three short stories, I wish each issue of this series focused on a particular slayer. It would be better as an anthology series than this. Recommended for Buffy fans, but don't expect a deep dive into any of these slayers.

Really great opening story, and nice varied art. I think a better format would be single issues dedicated to each slayer, honestly, but no Whedon-work is perfect. I’ll probably read more issues of this if they come out.

I was so excited. And there was so much potential for this story line. What a huge disappointment. It honestly felt like they threw this together in 10 minutes. Major sad face.

Three stories about older slayers, with the last being inferior to the farly superior first & second.

three stories of early Slayers. entertaining enough, but that's about it.
